Nessus in our Birth Charts
Such a transformative morning, thanks eclipse!
Lol, so I was scrolling Instagram and had came across a new asteroid that has a huge effect on us that very few know about
my research led me to a few pages where I got enough info to gather what I needed and I’ll link them
so Nessus, is an asteroid that transits between Saturn and Pluto and has the label of the “abuser” quite negative connotation in my eyes but super profound meaning behind it.
This is an explanation from lookupatthestars which I’m quoting because she wrote it so eloquently - and is linked below
“Abuse works this way. As a general rule, when someone experienced significant abuse, they respond in 3 different ways:
1. They treat others similarly to how their abuser treated them
2. They surround themselves with people who treat them the way their abuser did
3. Treat themselves as their abuser treated them
So if you find someone with a prominent Nessus, and we'll define below what prominent means, you know 2 things for sure:
1. Abuse has been a theme in their life
2. They responded to it in one way
So this brings a natural question: Can we see in the natal chart if someone is going to pick option 1,2 or 3? My opinion is - we can guess.
If someone has a strong Mars energy for example, we know that in their reaction to their environment, they tend to fight - as in "fight, flight, freeze, fawn". So, if we're able to determine with their chart that their natural coping response is fight, we can say they are likely to use option 1 as a coping response to being abused, and they *could* have for natural response to become abusers themselves. That being said, even with this assumption based on the chart, someone can also fight their way out of their natural coping response, so in a nutshell: No, you can't really know for sure, you can only see trends.”
Nessus shows us where we abuse, have been abused, or where we tend to attract abuse - I think it links perfectly to Theta. It can also help us understand our karmic links to certain behaviors we possess from past lives
I had found my Nessus placements on Astro.com under the extended chart section
My Nessus is in Scorpio in the 1st House with an opposition to Mars, and trine with Saturn
“Mars Opposition Here we had a deep wounding to the sexual self and large consequences on this person's anger.” DAMMMMNN lol anyone who knows me, knows how angry I really get, and having my Mars IN Aries in Sidereal Astrology it can be a recipe for disaster of my own ego lol aren’t we all here for an ego death anyways?
Now a different interpretation who I’ll link below also is a shadow work landmine, lol thank you Universe! I asked, you delivered
“This is the scary Nessus. If he is not controlled by good aspects from Chiron or Saturn then this Nessus is an uncontrolled, indolent child who wants to fight to get things his way. He is the bully who won't let you have it your way. He is the control freak in a relationship. Somebody who also suffers from absolute obsession over "my way of highway policy". In a good sense, he is the leader of the pack, moving in the direction with absolute passion. Using all possible methods to reach his goal. He can be the match winner in sports needing lot of Physical energy. In love, he is the alpha male even when in a woman's chart!”

Oooooof, if that doesn’t describe me to a scary T lol we’re all friends here right?
Awareness <3
With my Nessus being in Scorpio (still learning) here’s the excerpt that is humbling and reassuring for me on my path right now - the cherry on top so to say lol
In the 8th house/Scorpio:
This is the Nessus at home. Being centaur of Pluto, Nessus shows the dark side of the god of the underworld. But even then this Nessus has the biggest potential of becoming a healer. In fact, the most powerful healer.I can only say to them that they suffer from "OCD" which is a peculiar Nessus quality and they are "astrologers" or "occultists" which is the Nessus in the 8th house/Scorpio theme. Having Nessus with this placement does not mean that you are "abused". Remember, Nessus is the aggressor and not a victim.
Whereas, Nessus here, is the mafia, drug dealer, tantric yogi, black magician who uses spirits to bring him power. He is the "bad magician" from Aladdin's story who is running after the lamp for power. This Nessus has an obsessive and uncontrolled desire to gain power. He wants wealth at all costs and use darkest themes to get it. His greed is endless be it for sex, power or money. He holds his victim captive like the Devil card in tarot. When positively expressed, he is powerful yogi like Lord Shiva who heals victims of various ailments. He is the one who gives life to the dying through power obtained by controlling the kundalini energy. In love this is most manipulative Nessus who can do anything to gain control of the relationship. He will use all methods to hold his lover captive.
Hehe, I find this stuff so interesting
I definitely have saw my power hungry, money mongrel come out here this last year - feeling the loss of control through money was a hard hit for me. it’s on the up and I’m fucking proud of myself!
Did ya hear that though ;) “most powerful healer” lol love it!! Astrologers to boot, well howdy!
I love her take on the aggressor part also rather than relating it to abuse, a more neutral (in my eyes) approach
Anywho know the Trine to Saturn is an interesting one also
I found a website relating to Nessus Conjunct - but with trine I was reading through the forum that Nessus Trine Saturn will help me to control (hehe) the Nessus, which is positive because I truly do not want to steal my partners freedom the way I feel I can. It is energetic and has been unexplainable for a while now, these learnings just light me the F up I am so excited to learn more.
Now what does this relate to? Well we all attract our shadows through our partners. They are mirrors and projections of self. My partner and I have had a rocky relationship and I have definitely felt domineering to his quite passive persona. I have always had a powerful presence and voice but the duality of a Gemini - in Tropical (I play between the two and will explain why)
This is a topic I’m still learning, but am very interested in how I can link these two together, Astrology and Theta - helping people uncover their wounds and unconscious to bring light to our shadows and increase awareness.
The truth is we do not get rid of anything that is ourselves, we only integrate it. Once we are aware we have free will to accept these parts of ourselves, these triggers and overreactive patterns are actually so volatile because they want to be seen & loved.
So what I learnt about myself today was that this controlling and domineering aspect of myself - this side of me that needs to control someone and if I’m not having fun than no one can side that I truly dubbed to be something learnt from my mum, is me lol it all comes back to us guys. Accumulated it also to being a co-dependency labelled habit. Still could be lol who knows. I feel co-dependency is a trigger word for most but in truth we all have co-dependent behavior until we - you guessed it, bring awareness!
I’m leaving the world of labels and coming into a more unknowing and ever changing view of myself because once we label ourselves it is downloaded into our DNA and Matrix, where we start behaving more and more to fulfill said prophecy of being labelled - insecure, controlling, giver, etc. We steal the beauty of evolving and the flow we are all living through.
No one is something, ALL the time.
You are not always passive, manipulative, fearful, kind - who isn’t these aspects from time to time.. Embracing the Law of Oneness
I had a wild awakening around this and really understanding how passionate I have been about astrology my entire life. I remember as a kid I would read and search my birth chart trying to dig into what and who I was. Trying to find answers - or at least spark a question that led to one. Now at the ripe age of 27 I have been wondering WTF do I want to do what am I most passionate about. People, helping people, KNOWING lol I love knowing something definitely part of my control patterns with Nessus, and healing.
Truly embodying our authentic selves and releasing all judgement. I have a habit of saying I want to be the best person I can be, well I have NEVER met anyone like me lol ever. So I guess this comes down to being the best ME I can be, and embracing these qualities in the name of shadow work and integrating self acceptance and unconditional love to myself like I preach to others. The “good, bad and ugly” no longer exists, we are who we are and that’s perfect.
Sidereal VS. Tropical Astrology
thinking about this… I’m going to make another post about this <3 stay tuned and I’ll tell you the difference between the two, what they mean to me and why I play interchangeably between them both!
If you’re intrigued on finding some new information about yourself and your triggers, I highly recommend looking into your Nessus placements - to find them I looked on Astro.com and these are some websites that will give you some info on what each sign and placement mean for you
Happy Shadow Working!
